June 30th: Ice Cream Festival 2008

I love R&B. I have loved R&B for years and like many people of my generation, artists such as Ginuwine, Monica and Dru Hill bring back memories of slow dancing and singing with friends on the high school’s steps between classes. I will admit, however that I had an ulterior motive when I bought my ticket for this year’s Ice Cream Fest. I had a sneaking suspicion that I would find fashionistas a- plenty and I WAS RIGHT! There were so many FLY people! Guys, if you want to find a sexy female who knows how to dress, you must attend next year. Ladies, the same goes for you if you are looking for a well-dressed man. The pics that I have posted do not do justice to the fashion forwardness of the peeps who attended. My only regret is that I forgot to carry an extra set of camera batteries :(

Baby Boys gave a sick dance performance…enjoy!

LUSH Bath bombs

I found this young man sitting on what looked like a bunch of giant flight cases in the BCE place. I was struck by how the black in his outfit matched what he was sitting on. Sometimes it feels as though the people that I photograph are wonderful examples of found art. It’s not just the outfit…usually it’s how the outfit looks against the city’s backdrop that makes the person seem so striking. He was so cool and not at all bothered by the fact that I pulled him away from his work.

The thing that I noticed about this young lady was definately her ink. Even though she is wearing so many interesting pieces like her belt and t-shirt, it was her arm and leg tattoo that turned my head. I asked her if I could “close-up” on her sleeve and she politely said no. She is the creator of her own tattoos so I understand her reservations about posting an example of her creative work online. She did say it was cool to close-up on her shirt, which made me happy cause I really like it!

June 25th/2008

First things first, I would like to send a special shout out to my new intern/assistant Helen. She approached many of the people that you will see in today’s post and has been a tremendous help! Thanks honey!

I love the blue, green and brown. It looks so summery and gorgeous against the trees.

I have always admired Asian style tops and dresses. The accessories finish the outfit so well.

Her hair caught my attention but her shoes made me wanna go shopping. Very cool look.

The most fashionable people are always on bikes. It’s one of the frustrations that come with this job. I was so happy I caught this young man before me rode off. His shirt is wicked and I was surprised to find out that he got it from Winners.

Obviously it was the shorts that caught my attention. They are so different and a great look for Summer.

This young couple was on their way to a gala to kick off Pride Week. The gold and black reminds me of Donna Karan. They both look very chic.
