I have a few rules when it comes to taking pictures of everyday people. Firstly, I never photograph anyone who is on their cell phone. It just seems kind of rude to interrupt someone when they are having a conversation. I have wanted to break this rule so many times! The most fashionable people always seem to be in the midst of a heated cellular discussion. BOO! If a person seems like they are in hurry I try to avoid them as well and if it’s raining I do not ask people to stop and pose. Basically, fate decides if I will ask a particular individual to pose for me. Fate presented the first young man in today’s post. He was standing outside a coffee house putting out a very chill “I’m-in-no-hurry” vibe . He was not on the phone and it was not raining. So when I walked right by him, I had to get mad at myself. I turned around and approached him
His shirt is a map of NYC. I told him I thought it was cool and asked him if he got it in New York. He replied with an appreciative smile, “No, Japan”

I broke one of my rules unknowingly for this young man. He and his friend were in a hurry and I asked to take his picture. They looked surprisingly calm so I couldn’t tell that they were behind schedule. I asked him to pose facing me because I love his shirt but he preferred posing to the side. I love the side view as well cause it shows off his ink. Thanks so much for stopping! I hope you got there in time!

The wonderful thing about living in a large metropolitan city is that you don’t have to go very far to see a fashion statement. This afternoon I didn’t even have to leave my apartment building! As my boyfriend and I were walking out of our building, I saw a young woman wearing a simple black summer dress that she had jazzed up with a funky hat. She was on her way into the building and was nice enough to stop and pose for me. It made me feel good to know that I had already gotten some work done and I didn’t even have to take 10 steps. When I mentioned this to her she reminded me that it is Canada day and that I didn’t have to work today if I didn’t want to. That made me feel even better!

A little further down the street we spotted this young man rocking baby blue camouflage. I noticed his shoes first. They remind me of a pair that Pharell is wearing in the cover art of the latest N*E*R*D album. Good album too!

The fashion statements at Pride were AMAZING as usual! This is one of the hottest street fashion events of the year, so naturally I had to be there. One of the reasons I love Pride is because the vibe is so open and loving. Everyone is your best friend and there is absolutely no attitude. The fashions are bold, eye catching, experimental and break all the rules.

This young man is holding my card. I always give one to the people that I photograph to prove I’m not crazy.

I wish I could have taken more pics of the two ladies below. The second pic is not that good but I decided to post it anyway cause she still looks fantastic. I wish I could rock a ball-gown with that much grace!
