June 19th/2008:

There are those who accuse modern day punks of merely dressing the part. This is a very easy look to achieve because there are lots of places to get punk fashion ideas and its way easier to dress like a punk now than it was in the 60’s. Green hair dye and black nail polish were much harder to find back then. Critics of the modern day punk also maintain that the anarchist’s spirit has been lost and that punk is no longer about shaking up the system and causing a commotion. The first young lady in today’s post is proof that the punk spirit is still alive and well. Her outfit definitely has elements of punk and when I saw her, she and her friend were trying to inspire some anarchy on the subway using the mouse that she is pictured with. (They didn’t get very far, and I think a few people just thought it was really funny) Ok so it wasn’t the nicest thing to do but at least their not posers. Vivienne Westwood would be proud.

The second young lady in today’s post was as sweet as the chocolate bars that her shirt advertises. I think that a chocolate logo is worth wearing on a shirt. Great boots too!

Hi everybody and thanks for visiting. Those of you who have visited thisisu.com before will probably notice that I am no longer including information on where my subjects got their clothes. I know that this is usually the first question that comes to mind when you see someone in an outfit that is wicked but there are a lot of good reasons why I have decided to do away with the details. Firstly, a lot of the people I photograph say they got their clothes from other countries. Korea is a BIG ONE. In fact, the first pics in today’s post include a young lady who said she got her entire outfit from there. Korea must be one of the most fashionable places on earth!!!

Also, a lot of people don’t remember where they got their clothing, or it was a gift. Besides, I know that many of you look to this site and sites like it, for ideas rather than exact details on where to buy clothes. My goal is to fuel the fashion imagination of my viewers and to prove that an inspired fashion idea is all that is necessary to create a great look. The other young lady in today’s post is wearing an amazing pair of white wedges. She told me where she got them but I am not going to race to that store to buy them. I’ll just store the image in my fashion memory (and hard drive) and create a similar outfit for myself. So I’m taxing her idea… I’ll look completely different in the outfit anyway.

This beauty proves that Louis Vuitton can compliment the casual.

Beautiful white and silver opened-toed wedges…enough said

I got the most touching e-mail from Jazmine after taking her picture. She wrote that she is considering a career in fashion and I must say I hope she peruses one. Her style is crazy, creative and cool.

The rosary that Michelle is wearing reminds me of a young starry-eyed Madonna in her “Lucky Star” days. It’s a perfect edition to the colourful dress.
